Planet Comicon 2019
Our fifth time at Planet Comicon for the 20th Anniversary was another great experience for us. With the help of Blue Valley CAPS students, they built and gave away 2 wheelchair costumes during the event! On Saturday we gave away a Transformers Bumblebee wheelchair costume, with the assistance of Bumblebee there! Then on Sunday, we gave away a Sesame Street Abby Cadabby wheelchair costume. Both were a huge hit with the crowds as well. We also auctioned off a motorized Star Wars Landspeeder PowerWheel that was donated to us at C2E2 the week before and that was a huge fundraiser for us. Congratulations to the lucky winner. Callen was driving it around during Planet Comicon to help sell tickets.
We also debuted a brand new wheelchair costume that was designed by our very own 13-year-old Reese! It ended up being one of our most popular costumes we have ever made. Why? Because it was our very first interactive wheelchair costume. It was Splash Mountain from Walt Disney World and Disneyland. But the cool thing about it was that if anyone wanted a photo of it, they had to get in the costume in the back and pose with Reese as if they were going down the mountain with him. The costume featured lights, and a nearly 13 minutes soundtrack of the entire ride with all 4 songs and dialog from the ride on a constant loop. Everyone found their "laughing place" when they saw this costume come by.
